One trip instead of four.

Kashmir Supermarket has been on Dewsbury Road in Beeston since 2013, and it is the reason a lot of south Leeds does not need four separate shopping trips. Asian, African, Caribbean and continental groceries under one roof, with the halal butchery counter at the back and a free car park out front.

It is a proper big shop rather than a corner shop. The rice aisle alone runs to more than twenty lines — Tilda, Surya, Laila, Habib, White Pearl, Green Dragon — stacked from 1kg bags up to 10kg sacks, with the sella and 1121 extra-long basmati that the supermarkets do not bother with. The spice wall runs most of the length of the shop: whole and ground, 20g jars up to catering sizes.

The veg racks get restocked through the week and carry the things you would otherwise drive across the city for — kadu, ravia, saragwa, matoke, green and yellow plantain, cassava, yam, African aubergine, methi and mustard saag by the bunch. Next door, Kashmir Hair & Cosmetics covers Afro and European hair care, so the weekly shop and everything else happen in one stop.

What the shop is known for

• The halal butchery. Beef, lamb, sheep and chicken cut to order — including the cuts most places skip: paya, gizzard, liver, kidney, beef skin, mixed meat for curry.
• Rice and atta in bulk. From a 1kg bag of pudding rice to a 16kg sack of Gold Crest atta, priced for households that actually cook.
• The spice wall. East End and Heera across whole seeds, ground masalas, rubs and curry powders — the range a recipe actually needs.
• African & Caribbean lines. Gari, palm oil, Supermalt, Vita Malt, Africa's Finest, Tropical Sun jerk and Jamaican curry seasoning.

Delivery & collection

Order before 5pm and we deliver the same day, within two miles of the shop, for £4.99 — free on orders over £50. Our own staff do the driving, so if something needs sorting you're talking to the shop rather than a courier app. Click & Collect is free: order online and it's picked and ready in two hours. Tell us your substitution preference per item and the picker follows it.

The shop is open 9am to 8pm Monday to Saturday and 9am to 7pm on Sunday. Come in and have a look — it's bigger inside than it looks from the road.
